This website is about my father Stanley William Gillick. It has three aims. I will be updating this website as and when I have new information to share.

Documenting the man, his life, times and ancestry

I have been researching my family history for sometime now but it is not yet ready for making public. However, it is my intention to release genealogy information on my father's ancestry via this website.

I have been scanning all the old photographs and collecting other documents relating to my father and the times in which he lived. Where appropriate I will make this information available via this website.

Cataloguing, archiving and disseminating his music

I am currently cataloguing and housing all of my father's music. This includes his composition manuscripts and audio recordings. I will then preserve and archive this material by digitising it prior to dissemination via this website.

As suggested by a friend of my father's from the the Workers Music Association summer school I will be submitting the final archive to the relevant body for formal accessioning and for my father to be considered as a minor British composer.

Using and improving my technical skills and knowledge

This website will allow me to practice various web based IT skills and learn new ones. I will be applying industry data and metadata standards throughout.

Currently I am using Google Sites but it is my intention to move to a different platform as the website's content and functionality grows.

The website is deliberately simple, greyscale and old fashioned as far as websites go so that for the moment I do not get distracted by design.
